Oct. 6 2006 Reflection on Presentations

I thought the presentations were great because I got to learn a lot about other countries that I had no knowledge of, and it is a great oppurtinity to learn about these magnificeint countries for later on in the future, if we travel to one of these countries you will have more knowledge about these countries. For example I never knew there is such country in the mideastern mediterranean named Cyprus, well occasionally it is an island. I have seen so many presentations and I have learned a lot of things that can improve my future presentations. For example as I have seen, I must now improve my volume of voice and to be more loud and clear so that everyone can hear and understand every word I say, because if no one can understand or hear a word I say I can might as well get a bad grade. I have learned a lot of things such as, that Russia has a very small population due to weather conditions that can harm or even kill inocent civilians. I really enjoyed the presentations for they gave me a great amount of knowledge to my brain, and hopefully in future I can learn even more knowledge from even more countries.

Preliminary Data and Inferences - Step 3

Indonesia is a poor country because of its challenges which are the literacy rates, the infant mortality rates, and because of the people’s life expectancy. Through research, it shows that it should be more cared for and taken care of. For many people in that very country die because of diseases and many other sicknesses such as: malaria, bird flu, and dengue, it is even more closer some of earth’s violent weather. It is a country that is highly vulnerable to an earthquake or tsunami for there is proof shown on what happened on Dec. 24, 2004. After that incident many things changed the peoples lives who lived in that particular country, for they might have lost family members or might be infected by a disease. Basically, it is a country that we should all improve on at this very moment. Through research by comparing Indonesia with other countries we can see Indonesia’s main challenges.

By comparing Indonesia with another country such as Ecuador research has shown that Indonesia needs to be paid a lot of attention to because through research it has shown that its literacy rates show that people over 15 of age can read and write. First all only 92% of the people of that country who know how to read and write are male. So through research it has shown that only 83% of the people who know how to read and write are female. When comparing the information with Ecuador’s information it shows that 94% are male and 91% are female, this shows that the citizens of Indonesia need to be properly educated so that their minds can develop a lot. Second of all by doing the same comparing but with infant mortality rates, it shows that more infants die because of diseases and other sicknesses, therefore this is not a good sign of health for the country and it is a major problem which we need to solve. Last of all by doing the same method in comparing but with life expectancy it also shows that more people die at a young age in Indonesia also because of diseases and other sicknesses. These are the major challenges that this nation faces and hopefully in the future we can donate money from around the world to help this poor country, and to solve its dreadful problems.

Google Earth Map Project - Step 4

What did you learn from this task?

What I learned from this task is that google earth map is a very useful tool when it comes to learning more about where countries and states are found and when it comes to creating a project about countries and the world because when using google earth map I have learned that there is a special useful tool in that you can use to tell about a certain country or state we have used this tool for this assignment and I have learned many things about it, such as: basic html, when it comes to color coding words or titles. I found it quite hard at first but later on by understanding the instructions it got to me reasonably and I then easily did my work simply like that! What I would like to learn more about creating Google Earth maps is more of its features so that later on in the future I can maybe use Google Earth map so that these features may be useful when it comes to doing a certain project. I have learned many steps in Google Earth map and hopefully in the future I will be able to learn much more from countries, for now I have already learned many things from this project and my chosen country.
