The Problem
The workers at the Escondida site in Chile, South America, turned down an offer of $32,000 in bonuses and a 4% pay rise over three years, the staff members and now wanting a 10% pay rise, down from their initial 13% call. The workers had a strike at the largest privately-owned copper mine.
Who is affected and how?
The workers are affected by having the company shut down causing the workers to be jobless. This one incident can cause many big problems such as having no money to feed your children or even worse live on the streets of your town and live as a begger, such problems can easily affect your life just by being jobless. Besides it is the worker’s fault to be jobless, just because of the strike they had.
